Hailing from Minnesota, AK Steevo (real name Steven) is a hip-hop artist and audio engineer with a mission—to bring meaning, substance, and change to the music industry.
With a sound that blends trap, boom-bap, hardcore, cloud rap, emo, alternative, and old school influences, AK Steevo refuses to be boxed into a single category. However, if he had to define himself, he’d proudly wear the label of a conscious rapper, one who prioritizes deep messages and thought-provoking lyricism over fleeting trends.
A Musical Journey Inspired by Legends
Growing up in a trailer park, AK Steevo was raised on the sounds of Eminem, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, 2Pac, and 50 Cent. As he got older, his musical taste expanded, drawing influence from Mac Miller, Schoolboy Q, Vince Staples, Kevin Gates, Dizzy Wright, Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, Murphy Lee, and Wiz Khalifa. These artists helped shape his perspective, leading him to craft a unique style that mixes raw emotion with technical skill.
Despite excelling in audio engineering, AK Steevo never allowed the technical side of music to overshadow his artistry. He remains committed to writing new music daily while perfecting his engineering skills, ensuring that his music sounds as good as it feels.
The Green Light Gang & Live Performances
AK Steevo is part of GLG (Green Light Gang), a small yet ambitious rap collective formed alongside Tune and Ace Dolo. Since its creation, GLG has played a crucial role in elevating his career, allowing him to perform monthly in his hometown and even in other states. These performances have helped him build a dedicated fanbase and spread his message far and wide.
